Production issues said to delay Xiaomi’s Mi Band 2 by up to a month

We caught another glimpse of Xiaomi’s Mi Max handset with its big 6.4-inch Full HD display as well as an image of the Mi Band 2 activity tracker yesterday. While it was thought that the Mi Band 2 would be officially unveiled alongside the Mi Max on May 10th, production of the second-generation activity tracker is said to have hit some issues that could delay the wearable’s launch by up to a month.Xiaomi_mi-Band-2_LeakWhile the first-generation Mi Band was purely a passive device, without a proper display, the 2nd-gen device promises a more active experience, with a display showing details such as the time, bpm, number of steps taken, as well as a button for switching modes.

It’s believed that the production issues, whatever they are, may cause the Mi Band 2 to be delayed for up to a month. There’s still a decent chance of the Mi Band 2 being announced with the Mi Max phone on May 10th, but it’s likely that the shipping date will be pushed by however long the delay proves to last.

It will be interesting to see what sort of price the Mi Band 2 will carry, with the first-gen Mi Band proving to be so popular with over 6 million sales in part due to its being inexpensive. With a proper display and added features, what sort of price would you like to see the Mi Band sold for when it’s unveiled?
