Microsoft lately has been working to have a stronger presence on Android. It’s brought a lot of apps to the Play Store lately, including Cortana for Android, Microsoft Arrow, and now a unique alarm clock called Mimicker Alarm.
Mimicker Alarm is a Microsoft Garage project, as is Microsoft Arrow. If you’re not familiar with Microsoft Garage, it’s basically a handful of small-scale experimental projects that the Redmond-based company wants to bring to life. Mimicker Alarm is one of its latest projects.
The goal of Mimicker Alarm is one we’re all familiar with: to wake you up and keep you awake. Unfortunately, as far as most alarms go, we hit the snooze button and drift off back into sleep. This new alarm aims to keep you awake by having you play a simple game in order to shut the alarm off.
To shutoff the alarm, you have to mimic what Mimicker Alarm asks you to do. The application could ask you anything from taking a selfie to actually getting out of bed. And don’t think that you can trick the alarm! If you don’t finish the game in time, the app will assume you’ve gone back to sleep and will start ringing again.
Mimicker Alarm is truly a “smart alarm,” taking advantage of Microsoft Project Oxford, which is a platform with a bunch of artificial intelligence APIs. If you’re interested in giving it a shot, be sure to hit the download link below.
