The hits just keep on coming, with Sony announcing its new X-series of smartphones that will launch globally sometime in the summer, slotting in just beneath the Z-series. Sony unveiled the Xperia XA, Xperia X, and the Xperia X Performance earlier today, with all three handsets sporting 5-inch displays. Join us after the break for the rundown and specifications.
Before we look at the X-series range of handsets individually, let’s see what they have in common first. The X series carries on with the same sort of metal and glass materials that we associate with Sony’s Xperia handsets, with Sony saying that each X series smartphone will bring a curved glass display within a rounded, continuous frame.
Each model will use Sony’s latest smart battery management system while also sporting Qnovo’s Adaptive Charging technology that manages the heat generated by charging with the aim of prolonging the lifespan of the battery. Sony is claiming all X-series models will have 2-day battery life.
On the camera front, Sony has announced that the X-series will sport the company’s next generation camera technology that allows users to take sharp focus images even for those spur-of-the-moment photos. The Xperia X and X Performance will use what Sony calls the Predictive Hybrid AutoFocus, that uses motion-tracking to predict where a moving object will move to, keeping the subject in focus. The X and X Performance models will also sport a fingerprint scanner.
All three models will be available in white, black, rose gold and lime gold.
