The idea behind teardown tests are to inform us users of how modern-day devices are built and how easy or hard they may be to repair. Only days after the official launch, the LG G5 has been given the teardown test by those at iFixit.
The teardown test of the LG G5 has been one that many people have been curious to hear about. This is because of the G5’s new modular design approach. According to iFixit, the LG G5 fairs good against other modern-day smartphones in terms of build. Thanks to iFixit, we also gained some intriguing information that you may not have known before.
During the disassembly of the LG G5, a mechanical shock absorber was spotted. This reportedly helps the phone’s removable magic slot stay in place when attached. The device is also unusually bonded together using nothing but screws and clips. The remainder of the handset appeared to be sturdier than other devices, making the G5 easier to fix if broken. However, the one caveat explained by iFixit was that most of the components holding the removable magic slot in place when inserted are bonded together with the device’s display panel. This could make the display more costly to replace if broken.
